Newish guy to the YouTube gaming scene Chooken is pretty quick with his aim. Check out some his highlights.
We’ve Searched YouTube and we think we might just have found the best Gaming YouTube channels out there. Every time we make a list we make sure to find someone we know that is seriously into the topic at hand. In this case the list has been written by a number of people because of how vast the gaming sphere.
“It’s got something for everyone doesn’t it, I mean the gaming world is more diverse than the world outside it. Sports, Shooters, RPGs , competitions and you pretty much name it, there will be a game for it. Whether you want to live in the arcade world, the fantasy world, the racing world or live out those sports fantasies you’ll probably find something for you in this list, it’s not comprehensive by any means but it’ll well and truly get you started with some of the best names out there. We’ve tried to break down gaming into 4 Categories to make it a bit easier to find the content best suited to you. We have Shooters, Competitions, RPG and reviews“

Ireland’s biggest gaming YouTuber is one of the best on YouTube. You’ll find all the usual gaming stuff with some of the biggest names on the platform and you’ll also find lots of comedy contentto go along with it. Great guy and great channel.
Many a True Nerd rose to prominence a few years ago when Kotaku published an article about his “Fallout 3 – Kill Everything” series. This is one of my favourite gaming series’ on YouTube, and the channel has heaps of other inventive and hilarious styles of playthrough. The Fallout ones are a personal favourite, but there are many other games featured to keep you entertained.
Definitely worth checking out, this is a channel that deserves way more subs than it currently have. Jon is hilarious and clearly very passionate about games and his audience.
Here’s a great channel that’s pretty underrated. Norman makes documentaries about the history of video games and with a seriously high and not chintzy production value which can often be lacking in gaming content. It’s in depth and engrossing which makes it great for sitting back and binge watching. Check it out.
One of the old school YouTubers, Cryaotic brings his soothing voice to all sorts of games. His style is more of a storyteller than a letsplayer, which is a nice change of pace from many other channels.
An insanely fun channel run by Ian, Just check out the video above to see what I mean. Its about delivering you a retro blast from the past with some healthy criticism thrown in for good measure.
A return to the glory days of gaming, when everything was new and crap, but good crap! From the description “Join Coury Carlson and Marc “Try4ce” Duddleson as they recollect their experiences with video games over the years, explain how to get the best picture from your retro consoles, and occasionally mash up new video games with VHS technology from the 80’s and 90’s.” Seriously awesome channel if you love gaming and retro tech.
Cinemassacre is a mixture of gaming and movie content, in a review from. James and mike look at most of the subjects they tackles in a in depth way, covering the history if there is some and a general breakdown of what its all about and how enjoyable it was. The gaming content largely focuses on the retro but you’ll great the occasional break from that. Great channel, great guy and friendly for all.
One man attempts what most would assume impossible. His goal is to review pretty much every single game made, you’ll see games from every era some pretty good and some really, really not good. Its a great channel and you should subscribe to it.
Here’s a little from his description to see what you’ll be getting “Classic Game Room is rad to the max and posts daily reviews of games and hardware for all systems from all eras: Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, Saturn, Master System, 32X, Sega CD, NES, SNES, ColecoVision, Magnavox Odyssey 2, Playstation, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, DS, PSP, Neo-Geo CD, Neo-Geo Pocket, Game Boy, Turbografx-16, Xbox, Gamecube, iPad, mobile gaming, OnLive, pinball, action figures, Vectrex and more!! (Panasonic 3DO and more coming soon)”
Part of the Rooster teeth family Funhaus is about a group of people that are crass, crude, hilarious and most of all huge fun. They do pretty much everything you can imagine and just generally cock about.
A little about them from the description: “We’re Adam Kovic, Bruce Greene, James Willems, Lawrence Sonntag, Elyse Willems, Matt Peake, Omar de Armas, Dan Schneider, Don Casanova, Jacob Fullerton, Adam Brouillard, and Jon Smith. We’ll play everything from GTA to the crappiest games we can find. We’ll also be doing live streams, fan events, and collaborations with any Rooster Teeth/YouTube friends and colleagues who wouldn’t be embarrassed to be seen with us.”
Perhaps the biggest meme spec edgelord gamer on YouTube next to PewDiePie. He plays mostly shooters/Call Of Duty but with much more meme than most.
Be prepared for some serious clickbait titles but some very good content centered around Call of Duty. The man has an enormous 8.8 Million Subscribers all there to see this man explore, review, play and deliver fresh news about the Call of Duty universe.
One of the Kings of shooters on YouTube M3rk is an insanely nice and funny guy. He not only plays the absolute hell out of the games but he keeps you up with the news, DLC’s and all kinds of other stuff. Great channel
One of the absolute original gamer’s on YouTube stretching back a massive 7 years. SeaNanners has been around for a long time making all kinds of content, it started out with FPS style games like CoD and has since branched out into just about everything. His content now isn’t focused to any particular category but is mostly a play-through style.
This channel is a must watch if you’ve got any interest in gaming. So what is this channel? Matt goes to every length possible to explain little details and issues in just about any game that aren’t answered in the game itself. Rumors theories and all sorts put to the absolute test with all of the information you could ever want. The hours that go into creating these videos must be insane. I mean we watch a lot of videos here to understand channels but these guys do that and so much more.
The Yogscast made it huge in the days of Minecraft with over 7.3 million subscribers but have since fallen in terms of viewership. I’d still recommend some of the older Minecraft series to anyone wanting to watch what made them so great.
Sjin is a long term member of the Yogscast crew and avid Minecrafter at that, while some like Sips have moved away from Minecraft, Sjin has largely stayed true to his roots. You’ll find him doing all kinds of different mod packs and series within Minecraft as well as a few other games thrown in to mix it up as well. Sjins channel is great for those of you doing work and watching stuff at the same time.
Description says “watch my stupid ass videos”. Do it. Dunkey has an amazing ability to not only review a game in one video but in doing so perfect summarize the feel and quality of the game. You’ll also be left in stitches along the way. A must Sub channel.
Sips is kind of like the most friendliest and most lovable guy combined into one. He plays mostly PC Games in a ‘play through’ style with hilarious commentary along the way. The first I remember of Sips was when he was building stuff in Minecraft with the Yogscast crew almost forever ago now, those memories are great and the videos are still hilarious and worth checking out.
What is the JonTronShow you ask, well its hard to explain. He’s probably the perfect blend of gaming, entertainment and comedy when it comes to his content and he hasn’t succumbed to the ultra PC crowd either which is beyond refreshing. He may take the odd long hiatus from content production but because he’s such a good host people always hang around for when he’s back. On his channel you can expect to see all kinds of big names pop through to join him as he plays games and makes skits. One of the best Channels on YoutTube.
Specializing in play-through’s/play-along’s, Jesse and her guests will have you sucked in for the long haul in no time. If you’ve got some time to blow and nothing on TV is quite doing it for you then this is a great channel.
Some of the games she plays of recent are: The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker and Dishonored 2, but you’ll pretty much find all other RPGs on her channel too.
She also has a podcast called the “Cox n’ Crendor Show”, you can find it here: https://soundcloud.com/coxncrendor
Watch her game, review and bring you the news from worlds of gaming and anime. Dooger (pronounced dodger) is a pretty friendly host who’s fairly in the know. Great channel
This magnificent channel is a Game/Movie (although mostly game) review and news channel. You’ll find Joe and his mates having an insanely good time reviewing things and providing very fair commentary, this means you guys get a really good insight into your next purchase.
Here is an example of movie reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVH2vdgmnw4
You can find his Facebook Here: https://www.facebook.com/goangryjoe
Pucker those lips people because you’re going on a journey. A journey of pure love and imagination. Not only is he a phenomenal gamer but he’s also an awesome commentator and general funny guy. When he’s not impersonating a military officer online he’s just generally kicking ass, so make sure you keep an eye out for him because you never know when you’ll be needing to hand over your role as commanding officer.
Game play-throughs of loads of RPG’s however there’s a big focus on scary/thriller type games. You could liken it to watching a scary movie except the actors aren’t idiots. Very entertaining
The name might be a bit misleading on this one because he is in no way lazy. He sets up early games on some very dated and hard to find hardware and shows us what it was like back in the day. You’ll get to see some reviews of some ancient tech. Great channel, great guy.
Absolutely hilarious game play channel. You just have to watch the video above to understand. You’ll probably get abs hearing the hilarious stories he dishes out.
This channel focuses on in-depth games reviews and analysis with a focus towards the retro. He’s done loads of great classics like Mario, Zelda, Tetris and even Pac-Man. Super in-depth and very interesting
Gopher’s channel is largely based on play through’s and modding so you’ll be able to get the most out of your games. He’s a great guy and most of the games he plays are Role play.
(Sadly in May 2018 Total Biscuit has passed away)
Total Biscuit focuses on very in depth PC Gaming Reviews, he’s got a very fair and no bullshit approach which is very refreshing. Here’s his description: “Sick of game reviews? Watch lengthy first impressions gameplay with honest and informative commentary. Get an idea about what you’re getting into before you spend your money with “WTF is..”, YouTube’s most popular first impressions gaming series”
Podcast can be found here:
All round good guy Markiplier has a great channel with a huge amount of subs and content. Here’s how he describes his channel: “Welcome to Markiplier! Here you’ll find some hilarious gaming videos, original comedy sketches, animated parodies, and other bits of entertainment!”
His content is great, I mean the video above had over 59 Million views.
Not much of an explanation is needed for YouTube’s biggest star but here’s one anyway. He plays video games, makes memes, reviews memes, reacts to online videos, calls out the cancers of modern society and has a really nice chair that’s only 399.
Just about the best YouTube videogame/tv show series about and now featuring on NetFlix you know that this series has something good going for it. Recently moved onto its own channel from Rooster Teeth the new episodes have started releasing here too. So whats the show about? it’s all about a bunch of characters based in the game Halo and a story quickly develops, this channel is fantastic to sit back and just binge on the 13+ seasons. Enjoy!
Famous initially for the series “Red Vs. Blue” which is easily one of the best video game series to be produced in the early days of YouTube they now produce a number of different series that are all catered to a different audience and style of show. Some of these are:
Million Dollars But.. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyhblSnfQXo
This is a series in which people are given an ultimatum to take the million and do something they don’t want to or reject the million because it’s too bad. Chances are if you’ve ever been out drinking with some buddies this has occurred at some point, except in this series the hypothetical situation is played out in a skit. Great series well worth binge watching.
On the Spot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sB_cM6rT3hM
On the spot is a kind of talk show/whose line is it anyway show where, the guests (usually other YouTubers) participate in games and hilarity ensues.
RT Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbF6HDcxmp8
All the people from Rooster teeth, Lets Play and Achievement Hunter, sitting around talking life and other things. Often very very funny.
Console gear, PC gear, Gaming reviews and a mix of hosts. The gaming content takes you through the game, the hardware and all kinds of other cool stuff surrounding it. The Gear reviews are super detailed and full of information you need.
This channel runs a number of series, they are all spectacular but perhaps the best is Man at Arms:
Man at arms: This is a show about making some of the most amazing weapons from movie and gaming culture, they use a range of technique from traditional to modern but it’s amazing to watch. All of the weapons are made to be used as well so this leads to some pretty spectacular scenes at the ends of episodes.
DIY Prop Shop: Gaming and movie props galore, from fallout to Warhammer they’ve done it all and continue to do so!
DIY Cos Play Shop: All about making those outfits for your next event!
Epic How to: A scenario, you put in it and all of the answer you wish you had. From how to survive being buried alive to How to become a pirate you now have the answers to things you didn’t think you needed.
Super Gamer builds: Epic builds of cool pieces from video games, A good play to start with is the Uncharted 4 Treasure Chest Build.
Game Grumps are a duo that will play any game under the sun and make you love every minute of it, from Silent Hill to Barbie Island Princess. They game without a facecam so their playthroughs sometimes have the feel of a podcast, with a great combination of laugh out loud comedy and down to earth conversations over the backdrop of a variety of quality (and not so quality) games. Arguably the best episodes come from the worst games, as the duo and the rest of their team find different hilarious ways to deal with the consistent nonsense they have to put up with.
The channel also features other shows Steam Train and Grump Out, with a range of different Grumps hosting. They score some pretty exciting guests, most recently Jacob Anderson who you might recognise as Grey Worm from Game of Thrones.
Game Grumps is a channel that might get lost in a crowd of Pewdiepies and Smoshs, but is consistently high quality and well worth your time to go check out.
Lets Play began as one of RoosterTeeth and the Achievment Hunter team’s first and most popular series’. It started off with only Geoff and a few others playing mostly Minecraft and things like Saint’s Row, but rapidly grew in popularity and eventually expanded into its own YouTube channel. In the years following they gained a huge audience for their hilarious gaming videos, and have partnered with other channels like Funhaus, Kinda Funny and Screw Attack for an even wider range of videos and content. This does mean that some of the OG Let’s Players are around less often, but the new guys are just as entertaining.
Let’s Play has ongoing Minecraft and GTA V series’ released weekly on Fridays and Mondays, and fills the time in between with almost any game you can think of. It’s also worth going back through the archives for things like their GTA V heists with the original team, which are 40 minutes of laugh out loud gaming nonsense.
